About
Victoria real estate was part of her upbringing — and never left her life.
Clients choose Karin for judgment they can trust: personable, honest, informative, and thorough enough to protect both today’s decision and tomorrow’s resale.
Story
Second generation. Same careful standard.
Karin’s mother, Tove Barlow, moved from Denmark to Victoria and went on to sell real estate here for 38 years. Real estate was part of the household language. Karin followed those footsteps and began her career in 1993 at Newport Realty.
She will tell you she feels most alive exploring Vancouver Island’s natural beauty — kayaking the Gorge Waterway, storm-season energy on the west coast, skiing at Mount Washington, boating local waters, and seeing the Island through her children’s eyes. That life keeps her grounded in why people choose this place.
In harmony with family life, she stays accessible to clients. Helping people sell is often about helping them move forward. With buyers, she still looks for the moment a face lights up when the right home appears — and still protects them from the wrong one.
Island life
Not a brochure lifestyle. A real one.
Trails, shoreline, weekend water, and the light that makes people stay. These are the places that keep Karin rooted in Victoria — and the places she helps clients understand.
“I feel most alive when I am exploring the natural beauty of Vancouver Island.”
How she works
Principles clients actually feel.
Listen first
Karin asks clients to list concerns and objectives in order of importance. Clear priorities early prevent expensive confusion later.
Devil’s advocate when needed
She points out features that may cause future resale problems. Looking good today is not enough if the home hurts you later.
Honest, not pushy
Guidance over pressure. Clients stay because they trust the recommendations, not because they were cornered into a decision.
Thorough follow-through
From first conversation through closing and after sales, access and communication are part of the service — not an afterthought.
Local knowledge
Neighbourhood, shoreline, and resale reality.
Great advice here isn’t generic. It’s specific to Victoria light, topography, lifestyle, and what the next buyer will value.
